Yuyun Maemunah, UNESA’s Youngest University Student at 15
Casal dels Infants – Yuyun Maemunah proudly became the youngest student ever admitted to UNESA through the prestigious 2025 SNBP pathway. The girl from Bima, West Nusa Tenggara, received her acceptance on April 5, 2025, at the age of 15 years, 5 months, and 29 days. Yuyun, born on October 7, 2009, has officially enrolled in the undergraduate program of Civic Education (PPKn) at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), UNESA.
“I honestly didn’t expect to be accepted. I checked the announcement with my friends, and my feelings were mixed. “But alhamdulillah, I made it,” Yuyun said, as quoted from UNESA’s official website.

As the only child of Najamuddin and Sarinah, Yuyun initially hesitated to move to Surabaya, which was far from her family and the familiar environment she had grown up in. However, the strong support and encouragement from her parents gave her the courage to take this big step.
“I was nervous at first because I didn’t know anyone in Surabaya. But my parents told me this is part of the journey. That gave me more confidence and peace of mind,” she said with an optimistic smile.
Yuyun began elementary school at the age of five. From an early age, she demonstrated discipline and consistently ranked among the top students. She eventually graduated from SMAS Kae Woha. She focused not only on memorization but on deeply understanding the material.
“Studying isn’t just about memorizing—it’s about understanding concepts. I always set clear learning goals to stay motivated and focused,” she explained. Discipline has been the key to her success. Yuyun consistently completes assignments on time and actively participates in class discussions. She asks questions and takes on extra assignments to improve her comprehension.
Yuyun’s decision to major in Civic Education (PPKn) stems from her passion to shape a younger generation that loves their country and respects national values. She also aims to help them understand democracy. “I want to be a PPKn teacher so I can help nurture a generation that knows their rights and responsibilities as citizens, and who can think critically and act responsibly,” Yuyun expressed enthusiastically.
